Cubism, one of the most revolutionary art movements of the 20th century, Originating in the early 1900s with pioneers Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, Cubism shattered traditional perspectives and embraced fragmented, multi-dimensional viewpoints. The design of this glossary mirrors the disruptive, multi-faceted nature of Cubism itself. In creating this book, I sought to embody the very principles that define the movement, ensuring that its form and content are inseparable.

To do this, I have drawn inspiration from the fragmented, kaleidoscopic compositions characteristic of Cubist paintings. I have tried to accompany each term in the glossary to actively dialogue with its its illustration, which in turn are morphed interpretations of original cubist paintings but have been re-imagined to create a fresh composition. The graphics in this book are deliberately fractured for the viewers to piece them together in their minds, much like how cubist works challenged viewers to make sense of the fragmented perspectives

The analogies drawn between the words and their visual counterparts encourage readers to see beyond the literal meanings, inviting them to explore the dynamic relationships that underpin Cubism. I aim to have this glossary as an experience more so than a guide.
